Bituminous Roofing Membranes
Bituminous roofing membranes represent a major portion of today's roofing and have a strong record of reliability. JM offers over 150 years of experience with these systems. There are two major types of bituminous roofing systems.
Built-Up Roofing System (BUR)
With built-up roofing systems, the waterproof membrane is field-fabricated with layers of bitumen alternating with plies of reinforcing felts and appropriate protective surfacing. The reliability of BUR is enhanced by the redundancy of the plied-in layers of roofing felts.
Modified Bitumen Roofing
By modifying premium-grade asphalts, JM has developed formulations that enhance the asphalt's overall weatherability. By combining these modified asphalts with nonwoven polyester or fiber glass reinforcements, JM produces waterproofing systems that exhibit tremendous strength, elasticity and weatherability. The systems feature either APP modified bitumen roofing or SBS modified bitumen roofing membranes.
