Using the Submittal Wizard
- When you enter a roofing system page, you'll see the Submittal Wizard icon up and to the right of the system's tabs. This is an optional tool available to you to help you build submittal packages more quickly. (You can still just download individual documents if you'd like.)
- If you would like the Submittal Wizard to recommend documents for you, enter the Specification ID in the "Search by Spec ID" box.
Items that could potentially be included in your submittal will display a green highlight around their checkbox. You can also opt to build a submittal without entering a Spec ID.
- Whether or not you choose to enter a Spec ID in the search box, you can build your submittal package by clicking the check boxes to the left of the documents you wish to include. You can choose to work your way across all the three main tabs and their sub-tabs as you build your submittal, or skip around as needed.
- If you change or choose to add a Spec ID while building your submittal, the Submittal Wizard will simply display new recommendations and the documents you have previously chosen will remain selected.
- When you are done selecting the documents you wish to include in your submittal, click the "View Submittal" button above the Spec ID box.
You will then be able to review the documents you have selected.
- If you wish to remove documents from the submittal package, click the blue "Remove" button to the left of the document in the "View Package" page. If you wish to add additional documents, click the link below the list to "Continue Building Submittal."
- When you are finished adding/removing documents, click the "Submittal Package Checkout" button on the "View Package" page.
- Enter your information on the Checkout page and then click the "Complete Checkout" button. We will compile your selected documents, along with a set of pre-included documents such as a Cover Page, MSDSs for items you have chosen, and "placeholder" pages for items you will need to insert. This takes a bit of time to compile – but you should receive a link to download a zipped file of your submittal package within an hour at the e-mail address you specified on the Checkout page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why do I only receive placeholder pages for the Contractor Certification Letter and Systems Approval Letter?
A: You will need to work with Technical Services at JM, 800.922.5922, to get the actual versions of these documents, after your submittal has been reviewed. These placeholder documents show you where the actual documents will be placed in the final submittal.
Q: I want to add a document to my submittal package, but there is not a checkbox for me to do so.
A: Not all documents are available for inclusion in the Submittal Wizard and therefore many documents won’t have a checkbox. If you would like to download a document that is not part of the Submittal Wizard, please click on the document name to download it individually.
Q: Does Submittal Wizard guarantee that my submittal package will be complete and technically correct?
A: While the Submittal Wizard is a good starting point for creating a submittal package, it does not guarantee that it will be complete or technically correct. You will still need to send your submittal package to your account manager for approval and to receive the necessary guarantees.
Q: Why doesn't the e-mail I receive contain my submittal as an attachment?
A: We include a link instead of an attachment because many e-mail systems filter out e-mails with large attachments. Use the link to download the zipped folder which contains your submittal elements. Simply save this zipped folder to your computer, right click it, and select "Extract All." You will have to do so within 30 days of receiving the e-mail, as the link will only be valid for this amount of time.
Q: I have deleted a specification out of the "Search by Spec ID" box but there are still documents which remain highlighted—how do I get them to clear?
A: To reset the recommended documents from the Submittal Wizard, you must first delete the specification from the Spec ID box, then press the green submit button to the right of the box. This will clear the green highlights from all check boxes. Your selected documents will remain checked and you can either proceed without recommendations or choose to enter a different spec ID in the box.
